CROWN POINT

This original Paul Sawyier watercolor is truly unique because it is the only Sawyier found to date that shows Frankfort from a hilltop to the west. Included in the scene are several steeples, the Arsenal (Kentucky Military Museum), and on the distant hill the Frankfort city Cemetery.

Sawyier created this scene while standing in the field of a farm that offered a vista of Frankfort. The land is now fully developed, offering resident on Crown Point Driver their own spectacular view of the Capital City.

This original would have been created about 1900. It came into the possession of a Frankfort antique dealer in the early 1900's and until recently, remained with the family. This painting has been restored to its original beauty.
