Paul Sawyier wrote on the back of this canvas, "Kentucky River near Tyrone". This is one of Sawyier's most magnificant large oil paintings, completed just after he had moved to New York in 1913. Shown above is also the matching large watercolor of the same scene. There has been established only one other similar set, the art prints "Lover's Leap" and "Lover's Leap II".

Tyrone, Kentucky is a Ghost town located in Anderson County, south of Frankfort, and 3 miles east of Lawrenceburg, originally named Steamville.
