This watercolor by Paul Sawyier is unique because of the subject and condition of the work.
The focus is a home on a country road, with different types of fences drawing the viewer to the focal point.
Sawyier even included the birdhouse in the painting.
This painting is from a special collection that included beautiful antiques furniture purchased
at a store in Liberty, Kentucky in the 1950's. The seller of the painting related to the store owner that her
grandparents knew Sawyier and had related to the store owner that her grandparents knew Sawyier and
had requested he paint this scene to include their home, which was on the road to Frankfort from Harrodsburg.
This original has Sawyier's Kentucky era signature and was probably painted before 1900.
It was not glued on a board, like more original Sawyiers and is in excellent condition.
